Shane Duffy is confident Norwich City are heading in the right direction despite a slump in their Championship form.
Defeat to Bristol City on Friday night means Johannes Hoff Thorup’s men have won just one of their last eight league matches – a run of form that has all but ended their hopes of a late play-off push.
Self-inflicted blows proved costly as Liam Manning’s play-off chasers ruthlessly punished their errors in and out of possession – a theme that has been recurring this season.
Those mistakes and lack of progress in certain areas have raised questions about the validity of their long-term plan under the Dane, but Duffy is confident the tough lessons from this poor run will make them stronger heading into next season.
“There’s a lot of learning in this group to be done, and I’m still learning at my age,” Duffy said.
“It’s difficult moments for young and older players, the manager, and his staff. It’s their first year in the Championship, and they will learn. It might not be our year this year, but this club is in a good place going forward, so you’ve got to keep believing in it.
