Sheffield Wednesday set for big injury boost after the international break

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl believes Akin Famewo will be available for selection after the international break.

Defeat to Steel City rivals Sheffield United in the last game before the break leaves the Owls 12th in the Championship table, six points off the play-offs with eight games to spare.

It’s a big ask, but Wednesday look as though they’ll be given a welcome boost on the injury front for their return to action against Cardiff City at the end of this month.

Speaking to The Star, Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl shared he is hopeful that long-term absentee Akin Famewo will be available for selection after the break. The centre-back has been out since October through a serious muscle injury.

After building up his SWFC return with some U21s outings and more work planned over the coming week, it is hoped Famewo will be in contention for the trip to South Wales.
