BBC Leicester expert’s optimistic Championship youth star predictions
The inevitability of facing Championship competition next season is a reality for Leicester supporters. Ruud van Nistelrooy was brought in to avoid relegation. Very quickly, however, it appeared that his entry into the club would fall well short of that goal. Questions of who will remain and where City can save money are going to be a common theme during the upcoming transfer window.
It is the fact of the matter that in these types of scenarios, many will want to play for a senior team at the top league, even if that means switching to Serie A or Bundesliga. There can be underrated gems for LCFC to potentially find and work at a deal for. More likely than not, though, going down a level will mean switching more heavily to the homegrown talent.
Nick Mashiter of the BBC wrote about how he believes the Foxes will do outside of the Premier League and who he sees becoming more prominent in the squad. The academy is always a critical component of any club. The reporter, therefore, took a moment to defend the Foxes youth-level programs at Seagrave.
He pointed out that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Ben Chilwell, for example, have been sold. Although there isn’t an immediate standout youngster, like at Barcelona with Lamine Yamal, there is still enough success stemming from the East Midlands to ease concerns at the under-21 and below teams.

Instead, the glaring issues are with the senior side. Mashiter defended the academy’s efforts and pointed out how it’s the cumulation at the senior level that isn’t allowing LCFC supporters to see younger talent more often. The reporter elaborated with the following statement:
