An official Newcastle United announcement (see below) on Thursday revealing the initiative. Fans able to travel free on buses and metro services to St James’ Park.

On Wednesday, the club also revealed that the Carabao Cup will be paraded at St James’ Park on Sunday.

You can turn up and pay this afternoon (kick-off is 2pm), prices £10 and £2 concessions.

‘Fans attending the Tyne-Wear derby between Newcastle United Women and Sunderland Women are being offered free transport to St. James’ Park on Sunday, 23rd March, thanks to a sustainable travel initiative driven by the club.

Real target' - Sunderland youngster hungry for more first team chancesA league-record crowd is anticipated to attend the Barclays Women’s Championship fixture, with the club also set to break their record of 28,565 for a women’s game.

Supporters are encouraged to take advantage of free public transport to and from the match – facilitated by Newcastle City Council and Nexus – designed to reduce fans’ carbon footprint on matchday.
