Wrexham beat Stockport County last weekend, seeing off close rivals Wycombe Wanderers by one goal to nil in their previous fixture.
Said victories, combined with a much-improved away record, has catapulted Phil Parkinson’s men firmly back into the automatic promotion picture after Wycombe did look set to run away with second place earlier this year.
On paper, the Red Dragons now have a much easier fixture coming up after back-to-back meetings with two of the top five.
However, there is a chance that despite their league position, Exeter City can cause a major upset.
There are currently 29 points separating the two teams in the League One table, with the home outfit all the way down in 16th place.
So, on paper, a win for Wrexham seems very likely, and their promotion push should continue for another week.
However, despite the massive gap between them, the Welsh outfit are probably facing Exeter at the worst possible time.
This is because the Grecians are one of the most in-form teams in the third tier right now.
They are unbeaten in their last six matches and are one of just three teams across all of League One who are unbeaten in their previous five fixtures.
Not even Birmingham City, Wrexham, or Wycombe are unbeaten over the same period.
