Dodgers begin quest for back-to-back world championships
Dodgers want back to back championships
“Let’s do this nine more times,” Shohei Ohtani told president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman during the 2024 World Series celebration.
The Los Angeles Dodgers begin their quest to do just that on Thursday at Chavez Ravine, opening up the 2025 MLB season against the Detroit Tigers.
Pitcher Jack Flaherty will be able to get his ring along with the rest of the players that still remain on Friday, as he signed back with the team from which he was traded at the deadline last season.
As Fabian Ardaya mentions in his piece for The Athletic, a repeat champion hasn’t happened in the last 25 years, let alone 10 straight wins.
The Dodgers set out this winter to do just that, adding more bullets to their pitching staff in Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki, and re-signing key players such as Teoscar Hernandez and Kiké Hernandez. They also bolstered a dominant bullpen with the signings of Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates. If any team has set themselves up for continued success, it is the Dodgers.

The Dodgers will be starting the season in a revamped Dodger Stadium. Over the winter, the stadium underwent renovations to update both teams’ clubhouses. You can check out all the improvements in Jack Harris’s piece in the Los Angeles Times.
The clubhouses have both been expanded to have more room for training, weight and food rooms. The Dodgers’ clubhouse also includes a second batting cage. “It feels like they created space out of nothing, which they kind of did,” Max Muncy says in the article. “Everything just feels a whole lot bigger. It’s kind of amazing.”
The Dodgers start the season with the best pitching staff in the majors, according to Fangraphs. Their arsenal of arms is projected to have well over a 15.0 WAR. Let’s just hope they all stay healthy.
