Under Gordon the Club finished seventh in Division One in 1977-78 (and tenth the following season) and during his tenure CCFC reached the sixth round of the F.A.Cup in 1972-73 and the Fifth in 1973-74 as well as 1980-81. Under Gordon in the League Cup, City reached Round Five in 1973-74 and, memorably, the Semis in 1980-81. In August 1982 he moved to the hot seat at City’s M69 rivals Leicester City.
