Ollie Rathbone shares clear mentality inside Wrexham dressing room after Exeter City win, ‘you can sense it’
Wrexham picked up another crucial victory in the League One promotion race, beating Exeter City 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Wrexham beat Stockport County 1-0 last time out but faced a tough trip down to Devon as Phil Parkinson faced off against Exeter City.
Exeter had been in decent form heading into the game, but Wrexham secured a vital 2-0 win.
Ollie Rathbone opened the scoring for Wrexham, though it may end up going down as an Ed Turns own goal.
Jay Rodriguez added number two after the break, scoring from the penalty spot for his second goal in as many games.
Parkinson praised Rodriguez after his spot kick, with Wrexham adding yet another victory in the race for promotion.
Ollie Rathbone on Wrexham mentality
Wycombe Wanderers still have a game in hand on Wrexham, but every win just takes Parkinson’s side that one step closer.
The trip to St James Park had banana skin potential, but Wrexham got the job done – and kept another clean sheet in the process.
Wrexham midfielder Rathbone has now commented on the mentality in the dressing room having secured another big victory.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Rathbone noted that he joined a winning environment upon joining from Rotherham United last summer.
Rathbone noted that this kind of culture ‘makes a huge difference’ with Wrexham so used to winning over the years.
