Juan Soto Sends Clear Pete Alonso Message After Blue Jays Game

The New York Mets have room for improvement, but they couldn’t have asked for a better start from Pete Alonso. The four-time All-Star is slashing .292/.433/.750 with three homers and 10 RBI thus far and helped power the Mets (4-3) to a 5-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. Alonso blasted a 377-foot home run over the right field fence to plate himself and fellow star Francisco Lindor off of Blue Jays ace Kevin Gausman in the first inning at Citi Field. The 30-year-old was also intentionally walked in the sixth and scored on a Starling Marte sacrifice fly. Juan Soto gave a simple compliment to Alonso in the postgame press conference, via SNY.

Soto also drove in Lindor on a double in the sixth inning, which brought the score to 3-0 at the time. The 26-year-old then scored on a Brandon Nimmo double. “That’s why they call him the polar bear.”
