Moyes to rubberstamp new Everton signings as Sevilla star linked
David Moyes is expected to sign off on new transfers at Everton this summer as the Toffees look to go shopping in Spain.
With the Friedkin Group having completed their takeover and the move to Bramley-Moore Dock to come this summer, there is suddenly a lot more optimism around Everton.
However, it is Moyes who has perhaps generated most of this optimism.
The Scottish tactician has inspired an impressive turnaround on the pitch since he returned to Goodison Park, with the Toffees securing one of their biggest wins of the season on Saturday (12 April) as they beat third-placed Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground.
As a result, Moyes has proven he deserves to be backed by the Friedkin Group, with Everton reportedly set to compete with some big clubs for the signature of a Sevilla player.
Everton want to sign Juanlu Sánchez from Sevilla
Moyes is expected to hold talks with the Friedkin Group about signings.
As reported by the Sunday Mirror (13 April, page 64), Everton could accelerate their interest in Juanlu.
The Blues face competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Brighton and Newcastle to secure the 21-year-old’s services. However, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes it will be Moyes who has the final say on any incomings.
“Everton still have financial woes, and they need to be careful,” King said.
“They can’t fall into the trap they did a few years ago, where they were buying poor quality players. Things will be more thorough now, especially with Moyes at the club. I can’t see any players coming in without him rubberstamping the move.
