Former Leicester City players Riyad Mahrez and Shinji Okazaki have sent Jamie Vardy personal messages following the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League.
The club’s fate for the 2025/26 season was confirmed on Sunday afternoon following the 1-0 defeat to champions-elect Liverpool at the King Power Stadium. It’s the second relegation in three years after City won the Championship 12 months ago.
Vardy, who is out of contract this summer, took to social media to react to the season with a brutal post shared to supporters. “At this point, I don’t even know what to say,” he wrote on Instagram.
“No words I have can ever express my feelings of anger and sadness with the way this season has gone. There are no excuses.
“Collectively, as players and as a club, we failed. There is simply no hiding, and I refuse to entertain any suggestion of doing so.
“Having been at this club for so long, we’ve experienced so many highs and successes, and this season has been nothing but miserable, and for me personally, a total embarrassment. It hurts, and I know you’re feeling it too.
