‘Leeds to sign top-class goalkeeper to replace Illan Meslier’
Leeds United are aiming to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window and Norwich City star Angus Gunn is on their list of targets.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Daniel Farke is an admirer of the 29-year-old after his time at Norwich.
However, Leeds will aim for alternative options before making a move for Gunn as they aim to sign a keeper to help them compete in the Premier League.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that Leeds are readying a move for Gunn if he leaves Norwich on a free transfer this summer.
The goalkeeper will be offered a contract extension at Carrow Road, but his future remains uncertain while the Canaries search for a new manager.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider in January that Leeds are working on signing a new goalkeeper to replace Illan Meslier, with deals being lined up for the summer.
Aaron Ramsdale above Angus Gunn on Leeds United shortlist
Brown told Football Insider on 10 April that Leeds want to sign Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale following the Saints’ relegation from the Premier League.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Leeds are making ambitious transfer plans this summer.
“Angus Gunn is one of the names on Leeds’ list of targets,” he told Football Insider.
