2 teams chasing Sunderland player – Black Cats man can be ‘huge reinforcement’
RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are showing interest in Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham for the summer window, according to claims from Germany.
The midfielder played 3,327 minutes from 38 Championship games and attracts interest for his performances and potential.
Sky Deutschland covers Leipzig’s interest in the Sunderland star as they state he’s still on their target list.
The Bundesliga club sacked Marco Rose last month and are yet to appoint a permanent manager. That hasn’t stopped them from eyeing a move for the 19-year-old.
Leipzig have already secured an agreement with OH Leuven for Ezechiel Banzuzi and are looking for another midfielder. This is where Bellingham comes into the picture and he’s on their list for the upcoming window.
Over at Bild, they cover Dortmund’s interest as they are ‘vying again’ for the England U21 international.
Bellingham’s brother, Jude, spent three years at the Signal Iduna Park before securing a big move to Real Madrid in 2023. Internally, Dortmund leaders believe Jobe can be as good as Los Blancos’ star.
According to Bild, the Sunderland man should cost around €25m and could be a ‘huge reinforcement’ for Dortmund. They would only be able to afford him if they qualify for the Champions League.
In that case, BVB will receive €18.6m [for participating] and additional income from ticket sales and winning matches. This can be used to fund Jobe Bellingham’s signing.
Niko Kovač’s side are seventh in the table, four points behind fourth placed Leipzig.
Bild and Sky make no mention of Leipzig and Dortmund respectively. These two clubs are likely to face competition from England if Sunderland/Bellingham are open to a transfer.
