Ruben Amorim ‘targets Rayan Ait-Nouri’ as Man United transfer priority changes
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is already considering potential signings ahead of the January transfer window, with Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri on his radar
Manchester United’s new boss, Ruben Amorim, has reportedly set his sights on signing Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri. Despite working with a limited budget in January due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, Amorim is said to be keen on Ait-Nouri, the 23 year old Algeria international who has been one of the few bright sparks for Wolves this season.
Amorim, the 39 year old former Sporting Lisbon chief, oversaw his first game since joining the Red Devils on Sunday, where the size of the task facing him was made clear as United drew 1-1 with struggling Ipswich Town.
According to The Sun, Amorim has made strengthening at left-back – where United have been short due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia – a priority in January – and Ait-Nouri is said to be his preferred target. The report also suggests Ait-Nouri, who has registered three goals and two assists in the Premier League this season, is open to leaving Wolves in 2025.
Liverpool have previously been credited with an interest in the attacking wing-back, who has clocked up more than 100 appearances in the top-flight since joining Wolves. He is under contract with the club until the summer of 2026.
