Stoke City linked with transfer swoop for Brazilian defender.

Narcis Pelach is heading into his first transfer window as Stoke City head coach.

Stoke City have been linked with a transfer raid in the Netherlands to try to sign Brazilian centre-back Rodrigo Guth.

Guth, a 24-year-old former Brazil youth international and close friend of Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior, has been gaining a reputation for his ball playing and aerial ability in the Dutch top flight with Fortuna Sittard over the last couple of years.

The defender also holds German citizenship and it is press reports in Germany that are claiming interest from Stoke. He is under contract until 2027 and has previously been linked with Ferencvaros and Panathinaikos.

He started out as a junior with Coritiba in Brazil before joining Atalanta in Italy and then moving on loan to Pescara and NEC, in Holland. He is ambitious but recently played down talk that he was thinking of a move to a top Dutch club.

“No, not that,” he told ESPN. “I have to go there eventually. That’s what I want. I’m doing my best and seeing if it’s possible to get there. They are big clubs. Playing European matches would help me get into the picture with Brazil, but for now that’s a long way off. I realise that too. It would just be fantastic. Now I only use my imagination for that.”

Narcis Pelach heading into his first transfer window as Stoke head coach, has been settling on Ben Gibson and Ashley Phillips in central defence while also having Ben Wilmot, who he has used at right-back, and Michael Rose, as well as England youth prospect Jaden Dixon.
