Leicester could be given chance to bring back former player who’s been made available by Premier League club.
Leicester City kicked off the Ruud van Nistelrooy era with a 3-1 victory against West Ham United on Tuesday evening.
The Foxes picked up only their third win in the Premier League this season and moved up to 15th in the table.
Leicester have put themselves four points clear of the relegation zone, though, there are still plenty of improvements to make ahead of Sunday’s clash against Brighton.
Leicester need to sign a centre-back, a right-back and a winger this January transfer window if they’re to kick on and put a sizable gap between them and the bottom three.
With that said, they could be given the chance to bring back one of their former wingers in what would be a terrific boost to their survival hopes.
Leicester could be given chance to sign Harvey Barnes from Newcastle
It’s just come to light that Newcastle United could be willing to listen to offers for Harvey Barnes this winter, according to i News.
Barnes, who left Leicester after their Premier League relegation in 2023, has made just five league starts this season, netting four times.
The 26-year-old is behind Anthony Gordon in the pecking order, so it seems he’s set to play a bit part role for the remainder of the season.
Barnes – who was a regular at Leicester – may want to seek starting opportunities elsewhere and if Newcastle do list him up for sale, a return to the King Power Stadium will likely be mooted.
City should be all over that deal should it arise, though, it could be a difficult transfer to complete given Newcastle paid £38m for him.
They likely won’t want to make a loss on his signature.

Leicester should prioritise a right-winger
The idea of bringing back Barnes is a romantic one, but it shouldn’t be a priority for Leicester.
Van Nistelrooy is particularly short of options on the right flank following Abdul Fatawu’s injury, so that’s the area which needs to be addressed first and foremost.
Kasey McAteer played there last night and whilst he enjoyed success with his runs in behind, it’s evident he doesn’t have the necessary quality to really level Leicester up.
