Wrexham are chasing attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window with a Championship forward on the wish list.
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson will be a very frustrated man heading into Christmas.
Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bristol Rovers saw Wrexham take a 1-0 lead before conceding a late equaliser.
It was a similar story just a week earlier as Wrexham were leading 2-1 at home to Cambridge United, only to end up with a point due to a late leveller.
Parkinson may still be grumbling to himself by the time he is tucking into turkey and sprouts on Wednesday afternoon, but no doubt hoping that Wrexham hit back against Blackpool on Boxing Day.
The January transfer window is now fast approaching and these instances of Wrexham failing to kill games off may just lead to an attacking arrival or two.
Wrexham linked with Championship attacker
Reports well in advance of January suggested that Wrexham wanted to sign a new striker with Championship experience.
These latest performances may only increase that transfer desire and Wrexham are being linked with Patrick Bamford of Leeds United.
That may be a little unrealistic given his wages at Elland Road and another forward has now been mentioned.
Reporter Darren Witcoop has taken to social media to suggest that Wrexham are interested in signing Bristol City’s Harry Cornick.
Witcoop claims that Charlton Athletic are alongside Wrexham in the race for Cornick ahead of January.
It’s added that Cornick has been told that he can leave Bristol City in January with League One seemingly a likely destination.
A move to Charlton would make some sense given that Addicks boss Nathan Jones managed Cornick at Luton Town.
Jones called Cornick a ‘wonderful player’ when speaking to Luton Today in 2021 and the prospect of a reunion may appeal to all – and leave Wrexham in a real fight.
