Hull City can exploit Middlesbrough situation with transfer move to boost survival hope.

The Tigers will be looking to add wingers to their ranks in January with Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi out injured.

Hull City should look to exploit a situation at one of their Championship rivals when the transfer window opens next month in a bid to help them become a bigger attacking force.

Reports have surfaced in recent days that winger Isaiah Jones was looking to leave Middlesbrough in January, given he’s struggling for regular football and keen to play more regularly.

The 25-year-old was one of Liam Rosenior’s key targets during his tenure at City, and the flying winger would fit the bill perfectly for what Ruben Selles’ side are crying out for in the top third of the pitch.

Signing a winger in January is a key priority for City, who are looking to secure cover for star summer signings Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi, who have both suffered ACL injuries and will not return until next season. Abu Kamara and Ryan Longman are Selles’ first choices at the moment through necessity, while Wil Jarvis is still viewed as a youngster with some potential despite his struggles at the first-team level.

Jones has started just one game since September, making just three appearances in the past nine games and didn’t get off the bench at Home Park on Saturday in the 3-3 draw against Plymouth Argyle, though one of those was off the bench in the 3-1 over City at the end of November when he enjoyed a whole minute on the Riverside Stadium pitch. In his 17 appearances, he’s yet to register a goal or assist on Teesside, but in previous seasons, Jones has shown why he was so highly rated by former managers, notching 12 goals and assists, mainly coming off the right flank.

The London-born Guyana International is rapid; his pace and ability to stretch teams was one of the key reasons Rosenior wanted him at City previously, but the figures in the deal at that time made it difficult, coupled with his importance to Boro at that time, so the Tigers walked away, but the landscape has seemingly changed now.
