Youan’s future has been thrown into the spotlight after the Potters reportedly submitted a seven-figure bid at the weekend, which Hibs’ board has been considering.

According to the Scotsman, Blackburn Rovers had a bid rejected for the Frenchman who has scored two goals in the SPL this season. But it has been claimed that Derby are also monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation as they look to beef up their attacking options on deadline day.

Addressing Youan’s future, Hibs boss David Gray said: “Nothing can happen for three weeks, and then all of a sudden, the last week, the last day of the window, anything can happen.

“We just need to make sure we are prepared. We’ve been really proactive. And we’re always looking to try and, if something can come up to make the squad better, or if something comes up that, you know, we’ve got a lot of good players that will attract attention as well.

“So we need to be always ready to react. But at this moment in time, Elie’s still a Hibs player. And I’m obviously still using my focus and making sure that we’re still moving forward because we want to end the window as strong as we can.”

Derby may well consider adding a striker to the squad given that Dajaune Brown has required surgery on a hamstring problem that looks to have ruled him out for the season.

It leaves Lars-Jorgen Salvesen and Jerry Yates as the only strikers on the books that are presently fit although Kayden Jackson can play down the middle.

Youan joined Hibs for an undisclosed fee from Mechelen after initially joining the Scottish side on loan during which he scored nine league goals in 36 appearances. After making the move permanent, he has scored six league goals in 44 games.
