Leicester could still sign free agent winger who Jurgen Klopp called a ‘wonderful player’.
Leicester City endured an underwhelming winter transfer window signing just one player in the shape of Woyo Coulibaly.
Coulibaly joined the Foxes in a £3m switch from Serie A outfit Parma and is expected to provide James Justin with competition at right-back.
Ruud van Nistelrooy needed a lot more, with a winger and a centre-back high on his list of priorities, but the club failed to deliver.
That’s left supporters seething as Leicester now look near nailed on to suffer relegation unless Wolves continue to falter.
However, there is a chance that Leicester dip into the free agent market for a former Liverpool winger.
Leicester could still sign Ryan Kent
Since Abdul Fatawu’s season-ending injury, Leicester have been bereft of any real threat on the flanks with Stephy Mavididi just not delivering.
Jordan Ayew and Bobby De Cordova Reid, for all of their endeavour, just don’t have the quality or pace to really hurt teams.
So, City could really do with exploring a move to sign free agent Ryan Kent, who can still be signed despite the window slamming shut on Monday.
Kent left Fenerbahce last year and remains without a club, so Leicester should provide him with a route back to British football.
The jet-heeled wide player enjoyed his best football with Rangers, where he made over 200 appearances, netting 33 times whilst laying on 56 assists.
Jurgen Klopp described Ryan Kent as a ‘wonderful player’
Kent came through Liverpool’s academy and during his time on Merseyside, Jurgen Klopp was very complimentary of his talent.
Speaking after a pre-season friendly in 2019, Klopp said: “Ryan had sensational moments in the Sevilla game one-on-one situations are his big strength.
“He is a wonderful kid, a wonderful player.”
Leicester should seriously consider offering him a six-month deal in the hope that he rediscovers himself under van Nistelrooy’s stewardship.
Even as an impact substitute, Kent would be a worthy addition.
