The Whites still have a daunting run of Sheffield United, Sunderland and West Brom to come and if they fail to take chances in those encounters, they may be made to pay.

In other Leeds United news, Stuart Dallas couldn’t believe his eyes in the clash with Coventry.

Coventry fans were heard voicing their discontent as Leeds United secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Frank Lampard’s side.

Leeds United extended their advantage at the summit of the Championship to five points with a 2-0 victory against Coventry on Wednesday night (5 February).

The scoreline perhaps flattered the hosts, with the Whites running rampant but unable to convert those chances into goals, leaving Coventry supporters audibly discontent with the performance from their side.

Sky Sports journalist Sanny Rudravajhala, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live (9:20pm) said: “This is getting ridiculous now, Leeds could have had a hatful.

“Every attack sees them overrunning the Coventry backline. There are a handful of dissenting voices in the home end. Remember Coventry came into this winning four games in a row. They have been pulled all over the place tonight.

Leeds United run riot in Coventry
Not very often can you claim that a side have “run riot” when the scoreline ends 2-0, but on this occasion you certainly can given the nature of the performance.

Daniel Farke’s side now find themselves five points clear of second-placed Burnley, albeit they have a game in hand, but some potential promotion-deciding fixtures are on the horizon.

Having only recently beaten Cardiff 7-0, Leeds could, and arguably should have bettered that scoreline against Frank Lampard’s side with a number of guilt-edged opportunities going amiss.

It’s difficult to be critical after a win, but Leeds simply need to be better in front goal than they demonstrated on Wednesday evening, and a failure to do that against better teams could prove costly.
