Philadelphia 76ers Acquire Guard in Move Before Trade Deadline
The Philadelphia 76ers did not make any major moves before the trade deadline although they were active. It looks like the organization continues to trust the process despite their disappointing season so far. On the other hand, the Washington Wizards were very active and made deals left, right and center.
According to CBS News, the Sixers acquired guard Jared Butler and four second-round draft picks from the Wizards for guard Reggie Jackson and a 2026 first-round pick. The 76ers will get a 2027 second-round pick (more favorable between Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns), Golden State’s 2028 second-rounder, a 2030 second-rounder (more favorable between Phoenix and Portland) and the Wizards’ 2030 second-rounder.
Butler is not someone who will come in and turn the tide for the Sixers. He could have a decent rotational role on the team though. This season, Butler is currently averaging a career-high 6.9 points per game in 11.3 minutes alongside 2.6 assists and 1.3 rebounds. He is also shooting 48% from the field and 36.6% from three-point range. Also, Butler has averaged 11.3 points on 52.8% shooting in nine games since January 1 and actually put up 26 points in 20 minutes against the 76ers last month. That performance must have caught the eye of the Sixers. Let’s see how Butler does in Philadelphia.
