David Moyes makes point about two more Everton players after Carlos Alcaraz promise
Everton boss David Moyes speaks after the FA Cup fourth round tie with Bournemouth at Goodison Park
David Moyes was impressed with his first glimpse of deadline day signing Carlos Alcaraz but also singled out another player for praise.
The Blues boss introduced the 22-year-old midway through the second half and the attacking midfielder almost made an immediate impact when he curled a free-kick against the post.
His introduction was the spark for a 10 minute rally by Everton that almost enabled them to get back into the game after conceding two first half goals to Bournemouth.
But it was the player who came on alongside Alcaraz that Moyes turned his attention to – Jack Harrison. Harrison hit the post himself and provided several dangerous crosses, one of which led to Jake O’Brien also hitting the woodwork.
It was a positive cameo for Harrison, who has struggled for form across recent months.
Initially asked for his thoughts on Alcaraz’s first minutes at his new club, Moyes said: “I was really, really pleased. I was pleased with Carlos, but I was always pleased with Jack Harrison as well. I thought he put in three or four great deliveries at a time in the game when we needed it.
“I thought Tim [Iroegbunam] came on and we’re just sort of half-nursing him back into some fitness. I think the biggest thing for me is to try and find if I can have some competition in the team and some players who I feel as if we can use and could use. And I thought those players all showed up and showed to me that they could do that.”
