‘Number one target’ – Norwich City loan man hailed by club chief
Norwich City goalkeeper Caleb Ansen was Altrincham’s ‘number one’ target, their director of football Marc Tierney has said.
Norwich City have let the stopper link up with the National League side on a temporary basis. NCFC will hope he can get plenty of games under his belt to boost his development.
Ansen, 19, made his Altrincham debut against Oldham Athletic earlier this week and they drew 2-2. They are back in action this weekend against Gateshead away.
Tierney has said, as per their official club website: “He is a real giant of a man but very agile with it and very highly rated by Norwich goalkeeping coach Declan Rudd, who I know. It was important to get someone in, and, after working on it all weekend, I’m really happy to get in our number one target.
“I spoke with the coaches, and we know we want someone who has good distribution as well as great agility, and Caleb fits the bill. He’s 19, but Charlie Olson has come in and shown you can do really well at that age.
“We promote youth, We promote these young players – if they are good enough, they are old enough. I spoke to the sporting director at Norwich, where I have good contacts, and they are more than happy to let him come and ply his trade with us. They know how important these games are coming up.”
Norwich City latest regarding Caleb Ansen
Norwich City gave Ansen the green light to sign for Altrincham to help him get some more experience under his belt.
He has linked up with the fifth tier club on a short-term basis.
