Sheffield Wednesday to make checks on key player ahead of Burnley clash
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has admitted Barry Bannan ‘could’ be sidelined again after playing 90 minutes against Coventry City.
Sheffield Wednesday started the midfielder against the Sky Blues, despite the fact he was a doubt for the game. SWFC will now need to assess him over the coming days as they prepare to play Burnley at Turf Moor.
Bannan, 35, has made 34 appearances in all competitions so far this season and has chipped in with four goals and four assists. The Owls were beaten 2-1 at home by Frank Lampard’s side over the weekend.
Speaking afterwards, Rohl said, as per a report by The Star: “We had a clear schedule built around how we build Barry up. He looked better after West Brom and the treatments had worked well. Before the Swansea game he started to make individual training and it started to look well and before this game he gave us the signal that he is ready.”
“The crucial moment comes tomorrow (Sunday). It could be that he is out again, or the reaction is not there and then he can carry on. Nobody knows at the moment.”
