The Championship was in full flow on Saturday barring Leeds United who are in action against Sheffield United on Monday night.
The 2024/25 Championship season is drawing into its final weeks and months now. Those set for relegation are starting to show themselves whilst those eyeing promotion are doing likewise.
And as has been the case throughout much of the season, Leeds United and Sheffield United are the two looking most nailed on to return to the Premier League this season, with the two Yorkshire clubs sitting in 1st place and 2nd place of the Championship table respectively.
On Monday night, Leeds and Sheffield United head to head at Bramall Lane in a game that will have a huge say on who wins the Championship title this season.
Behind them, the race for top six remains wide open. As ever, teams could make a late dash for 6th and there’s a few candidates to do so, one being Norwich City.
The Canaries moved from 12th to 9th after their resounding 4-2 win over Stoke City on Saturday, in which a certain Josh Sargent stole the show.

Josh Sargent hailed after ‘majestic’ performance for Norwich City
Leeds United have been linked with Sargent ahead of the summer transfer window. It’s understood that Daniel Farke is keen on a reunion with the USMNT striker who he brought to Norwich City in 2021, after what’s been another standout season for the 25-year-old.
Sargent scored twice against Stoke to take his Championship tally to 11 for the season: one more than Dan James and three less than Joel Piroe on 14, though Sargent has only featured in 20 Championship games this season, whilst also boasting five assists to his name.

Norwich City site Pink’Un hailed Sargent’s performance against Stoke City as ‘majestic’ giving him a raring of 9/10. Indeed, his second goal of the game was perhaps the highlight of the 90, and you can watch it below…

Josh Sargent labelled ‘best striker in the Championship’ amid Leeds United links
Sargent is certainly going from strength to strength this season. And with Leeds United in need of a striker, and with Farke knowing Sargent already, a summer move to Elland Road makes a lot of sense.
But transfer expert Graeme Bailey recently gave his verdict on Sargent to Leeds United, stating that Norwich would need to miss out on promotion for Leeds to make a move. He said: “Many people think that Sargent is the best striker in the Championship, and it’s hard for anyone to argue against that.
“But Norwich are not ruling out promotion yet, and he won’t be leaving Carrow Road if they do earn promotion. But he is really starting to attract interest from many Premier League clubs.”
Norwich are gong strong in their quest for a top six finish, now sitting just four pints outside the play-off places with 12 games to go.
And Sargent could yet be the man to fire Norwich into the play-offs come the end of the season, which could all but rule himself out of a summer move to Leeds.
