Kevin Durant Had Serious Six-Word Message for Mike Budenholzer in Suns’ Loss..

Kevin Durant didn’t have the ending he hoped for in his homecoming on Thursday night. The Phoenix Suns lost their fourth game in a row in a 120-109 finish to the San Antonio Spurs in front of 16,246 fans at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. Many of the fans in the crowd were wearing Durants’ No. 35 Longhorns jersey from when he was a student-athlete at Texas in the 2006-07 season. After getting into a heated conversation with the Spurs bench, Durant spent much of the final two minutes in the corner sulking when San Antonio attempted free throws. Durant had a six-word plea to Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer in the final minutes of the contest. Per Duane Rankin of AZ Central, Durant told Budenholzer to put in a player who could defend.

“You need somebody who can guard,” Durant said.

Suns fans on social media thought Durant was referring to rookie forward Ryan Dunn.

“He’s telling him to play Dunn,” wrote a fan. “In other words, put in Ryan Dunn!!! What did Ryan do to get benched?! I just don’t get it,” posted another. Dunn recorded no stats on zero minutes in the loss.
