Dodgers Dave Roberts Reveals When Ohtani Will Make Spring Debut
Things are ramping up in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ spring camp as the team prepares for the highly anticipated Tokyo Series against the Chicago Cubs in just a few weeks. 2024 unanimous MVP Shohei Ohtani recently took his first live batting practice on Sunday after recovering all offseason from surgery back in November.
Ohtani is expected to be a full go for the Dodger’s first game in March. 18. Manager Dave Roberts gave some insight as to when we will see Ohtani make his Cactus League debut: “He got a lot of swings off,” said Roberts. “He said he felt good afterward. He hit a couple of balls hard, which is good to see. I’m excited that he got to face some pitchers. We are still on track for [the] end of next week that he will be in a game DHing.”
Roberts did not give an exact date for his return to the DH slot this week, but this assures us that he is on track to be 100% for the season, especially considering he is also ramping up his rehab on the pitching side. There was also other news that came out Sunday, and it’s expected that Roki Sasaki will also make his spring debut this Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox, who the Dodgers share Camelback Ranch with.
