76ers correct huge offseason mistake in proposed swap
The Philadelphia 76ers correct a major summer gaffe in this proposed trade.
The Philadelphia 76ers somehow managed to alter the landscape of the NBA this offseason when they signed Paul George outright in free agency to the tune of a four-year, max contract. In effect, they climbed the ranks in the East while also pushing a West powerhouse down a notch or two heading into the 2024-25 season.
Prevalent is the belief that the 76ers had a sterling summer. After all, they did create arguably the league’s most talented big-three. They also successfully filled in the gaps they had from the previous campaign. But to satisfy the peanut gallery, here’s to admit that the front office did not have an immaculate offseason. Hey, no one’s perfect, they say.
The 76ers can still find an easy way to make the roster instantly better
Philadelphia is unanimously considered a looming championship contender by virtue of its in-your-face talent and the sheer fact that Joel Embiid will be healthy to start the season off (not a jinx, we swear). Having said that, there remains some avenues for the front office to tread in order to make the roster more foolproof.
One of the more pressing needs for the team at this juncture with training camp slated to open in a couple of weeks is their size at the forward position. Currently, they only have two legitimately rangy forwards in George and Guerschon Yabusele, who hasn’t seen NBA action in the 2020s.
