It now seems as if Damsgaard’s performances could see Brentford pay a bonus to Sampdoria.
ClubDoria46 have noted that the Italian club earned a fee of €13.5m plus bonuses in the summer of 2022 but a clause in the deal means that the London club have to pay €500k to Sampdoria on his 40th appearance as a starter.
That appearance came against Everton. On top of that, Brentford will also have to pay Sampdoria €250k now that he has contributed to at least ten goals in the season.
It doesn’t end there as the clause means Thomas Frank’s side will pay a fee of €500k whenever Damsgaard hits 20 appearances, extending to the 120th appearance. Within that period, a further €250k will be paid if the 24-year-old contributes to 20 goals in a single season.
Brentford won’t mind that too much, especially if Damsgaard keeps impressing and helps the Bees finish higher up in the table.
