Frank Lampard provides ‘big news’ with Coventry City injury update ahead of Stoke
Coventry City injury news from CoventryLive as head coach Frank Lampard provides an update on Jack Rudoni
Frank Lampard is hopeful that key Coventry City man Jack Rudoni will be back and available for selection after the international break.
The 23-year-old suffered what has been confirmed as a dislocated shoulder while scoring the opening goal against Oxford United last Saturday and will now miss the next three games for the Sky Blues, starting with Stoke City this weekend and swiftly followed by Derby County on Tuesday and Sunderland a week on Saturday.
Providing an update on the attacking midfielder, the head coach said: “He dislocated his shoulder. I’m not a doctor telling you this, obviously, but it popped back in and from that you get some soft tissue damage around the injury, so we’re hoping it’s at the lesser end of an injury at this time.
“What we’re hoping is that he’ll be back after the international break, without complications going forward. So that’s big news for us because he’s quickly become a really big player for this club, and I am a big fan of his. I enjoy working with him.
“The goal where he got the injury shows exactly the type of player he is, arriving in the box to score, but he has so much more to his game than that. But we have had to get on with playing without big players in this team, so we have to get on with that again.”
Asked if Rudoni’s absence will necessitate a change of system, Lampard said: “I’m obviously not going to declare that now but we will have to work round it. We have players who can play in that area of the pitch with different profiles, slightly, but it’s for us to find the best solution to missing what is a key player for us.”
