
Baltimore Ravens lose former Arizona Cardinals cornerback
The Baltimore Ravens are letting one of their own walk. Cornerback Christian Matthew, who joined the team after the 2024 season and spent the entire season on injured reserve. Matthew was a restricted free agent but the team has decide to not tender him and instead let him hit free agency.
Matthew has spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Ravens. He was a seventh-round pick by the Cardinals in the 2022 NFL Draft, but lasted just one season there. After being cut in the summer of 2023, he joined the Bears’ practice squad in October.
To this point in his NFL career, Matthew has 20 tackles and three pass deflections. He has not played in a game since 2023.
Matthew took a whirlwind college career trek, starting at Georgia Southern and then transferring twice from there to Samford and eventually landing at Valdosta State. The 28-year-old cornerback will hope to find a new home this offseason after a season off due to an injury suffered with the Ravens.
