
COVENTRY City have confirmed the date of the unveiling of the new statue to commemorate FA Cup-winning heroes George Curtis and John Sillett.
The Sky Blues will unveil the statue on Thursday, April 17 at 1pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Coventry host West Bromwich Albion in a league match the following day when the club will also mark the statue unveiling.
The statue will be located in the south east corner of the Arena near to the ticket office, backing on to the singers corner section of the stadium,
Supporters are welcome to attend the unveiling with a number of special guests also likely to make an appearance.
Curtis and Sillett guided Coventry to the club’s only FA Cup victory to date in 1987 after masterminding a 3-2 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the final.
The pair guided the club to top-flight safety the previous season
Curtis made 543 appearances for the Sky Blues as a player and captained the club.
He also held a number of behind-the-scenes roles with the Sky Blues following the end of his playing career.
Sillett played 128 games for Coventry and helped the club win promotion to Division Two in 1963/64.
Both Curtis and Sillett later became life presidents of the club.
Curtis passed away in July 2021 at the age of 81 while Sillett died in November 2021 at the age of 85.
Sculptor Douglas Jennings is making the statue. He has also immortalised legendary players Johnny Haynes, George Cohen and Jack Charlton.
A committee formed in 2023 to raise the required funds to complete the statue with the target reached in July 2024.
