Jets Reveal Justin Fields ‘Commitment’ In Scout’s Head-Turning Mock

One of the New York Jets’ biggest holes on the roster after signing quarterback Justin Fields was the lack of weapons around the former first-round pick. With Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall as the only two consistently productive weapons, with Davante Adams gone and possibly Allen Lazard too, Fields would be left with unproven players on offense. Some thought trading for a weapon was the way to go, but there is a clear directive to get younger under new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey.

That means with the draft coming up in under a month, all eyes will be on the Jets, who hold the No. 7 pick. Will they go quarterback or get Fields a weapon? In long-time NFL scout Bucky Brooks’ latest mock draft for NFL.com, the Jets get Fields one of the best weapons in the class – Penn State’s Tyler Warren. “If the Jets are committed to helping Justin Fields flourish as a QB1, adding a playmaking weapon between the hashes would enable the 26-year-old passer to operate more efficiently from the pocket,” Brooks writes.

Coming off a season that saw him total 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns from 104 receptions, Warren is the best tight end in the class, and looking at the Jets’ options at the position, Warren would be an instant starter. Adding Warren, who is a dynamic playmaker to an offense with a solid offensive line, Wilson and Hall, New York’s offensive coordinator, Tanner Engstrand, will have some nice pieces to work with in his first year.
