Coventry City recall loan goalkeeper with ‘true potential’ amid Oliver Dovin fears
Coventry City news from CoventryLive as Sky Blues recall 20-year-old ‘keeper amid impressive loan spell at non-league Gloucester City as news still awaited on the seriousness of first choice Oliver Dovin’s knee injury
Coventry City goalkeeper Luke Bell has been recalled from his loan spell at Gloucester City, adding to fears that first choice Oliver Dovin’s injury is a serious one.
Twenty-year-old development keeper Bell joined the non-league club in February on a rolling month to month deal to fill in for injured number one Jared Thompson, going on to play nine games for the Tigers. His loan was due to end after this weekend’s game but Coventry have cut that slightly short.
The player will have been scanned to determine the seriousness of the injury, although the club have not provided an update on the player’s condition as of Tuesday morning. The worst case scenario would be an ACL rupture which would require surgery and can take between nine to twelve months to recover from.
Lampard has senior keepers Brad Collins and Ben Wilson to call upon for the remaining seven games of the regular season, with the Sky Blues pushing to extend their campaign via the play-offs. Bell would provide a third choice option at a time when fellow development stopper Cian Tyler is injured.
Announcing the news that Bell has returned to Coventry, Gloucester City said in a statement: “Goalkeeper Luke Bell has been recalled by his parent club, Coventry City, after a successful loan spell as a Tiger.
