Coventry City’s next game certainly provides a tactical challenge for Frank Lampard to come up with a game plan to beat a Burnley side with the best defence in the division.
Last Saturday’s 1-0 win against Bristol City means the Clarets have now kept a remarkable 28 clean sheets this season from their 39 league games, while only conceding 11 goals during that time, with no side able to score more than one against them.
They head to the CBS Arena remaining unbeaten in their last 26 league games, and yet they still find themselves in third place behind Leeds and Sheffield United.
But is there a chink in the Clarets’ armour – something the Sky Blues can exploit in their quest to buck the trend of results against Scott Parker’s side? Their manager pointed to one when he admitted that his players looked a “bit desperate” while protecting their lead against the Robins last time out.
Asked if it’s been difficult trying to prevent his players from becoming demoralised at defending such fine margins in so many games, Parker told the Burnley Express: “I try my hardest not for that to be the case. We’ve got seven games left, we just need to focus on winning games. If we go and win seven games, we’ll be fine.
“I know that’s a big ask. I expect there to be many more twists and turns in this league, but I don’t really care what the other two teams are doing.
“My sole focus is on getting us in the right frame of mind, trying to educate and trying to mentor a young group in certain moments.
