“It’s positive” – Player responds to claims he’s priority target for Brighton, unsure of Seagulls move
Brighton & Hove Albion have been credited with an interest in IF Elfsborg’s Terry Yegbe, according to claims from Ghana.
It was stated the 24-year-old is the priority defensive target for Brighton after impressing Fabian Hürzeler. Fotbollskanalen points out it out and provide more on the claims linking the centre-back to the Seagulls.
The defender spoke to the Swedish media after Friday’s training and Fotbollskanalen have relayed his comments.
He was quizzed about the recent claims that he’s Brighton’s priority target for the summer window.
Responding to that, he said: “I’m just focusing on Elfsborg right now and that the team will get as high as possible in the league. I myself want to continue developing. I don’t know what will happen in the summer or the future”
The Ghana international also insisted he hasn’t heard from his agent about the Premier League club’s interest. At the same time, he’s pleased with these links.
“Nothing yet, I’m just fully focused on Elfsborg now,” Yegbe explained.
“If those kinds of teams are interested, it’s positive news of course. I haven’t heard anything yet, but it’s positive when big clubs want you.”
The defender joined Elfsborg in February 2024 and signed a contract until December 2028. At this point in time, Yegbe is unsure whether he will change clubs in the upcoming transfer window.
“I don’t really know. I’m just focusing on Elfsborg now and that I myself will continue to develop. I want to win matches and keep a clean sheet, for both the fans and myself,” he added.
The player has made 44 appearances in all competitions since joining the Swedish club.
Earlier this week, Fotboll Direkt reported Elfsborg will need around €6.5-6.9m to sell him instead of €5.4m mentioned by the Ghanaian press.
