Club set to benefit from big Wolves exit – Despite only having player for a year
Swiss side FC Sion are set to pocket this summer if Matheus Cunha secures a big money move away from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
That’s according to Blick, who say Sion will be due 0.5% of any transfer fee should Cunha move from Wolves this summer.
The Brazilian is the undisputed star of the show for Vitor Pereira’s side and has been earning admirers around Europe this season thanks to a record of 13 goals and four assists in 26 games in the Premier League so far.
He recently signed a new contract to keep him at Molineux until 2029, but the belief is that deal includes a release clause of some sort.
Blick certainly believe so, stating that the release clause is valued at 42m francs, around €44.5m. That may seem low for Wolves, but it’s seen as good news for Sion, who would be due 0.5% of that fee if it were to be activated.
They would earn around 360,000 francs from that figure, around €381,500, a figure they’d be more than happy to add to their coffers. He’s already brough in ‘several million’ for the club after a one-year spell following a move from Coritiba in 2017.
He joined RB Leipzig in 2018 before spells at Hertha Berline, Atletico Madrid and then Wolves, who he joined permanently for €50m in 2023.
Now they could be set to benefit once again, if he leaves Molineux in the big money transfer that most expect to happen at some point.
