Ange Postecoglou says what he plans to do with Archie Gray amid Tottenham youngster’s recent lack of game time
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Archie Gray has been one of the few significant positives at N17 this season.
In a campaign marred by injuries and inconsistency, the 19-year-old has stood out as a top talent thanks to his quality, versatility, and character.
Archie Gray, a midfielder by trade, had to be drafted in at centre-back for a while, and he more than held his own in the Premier League.
With Tottenham’s injury crisis easing in recent weeks, Gray has found game time limited – indeed, he didn’t play in the Europa League tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ange Postecoglou, speaking ahead of Sunday’s trip to Liverpool, has now shared what he plans to do with Gray between now and the end of the season.
Ange Postecoglou pledges more game time for Archie Gray at Tottenham this season
Postecoglou was asked whether he was looking to get more game time for Gray or whether it was just a case of competition for places.
The Tottenham manager explained how, during the injury crisis, it was largely a case of Gray and Spurs’ other teenagers being available and stepping up.
Postecoglou also explained how certain games haven’t worked out the way he wanted them to with regards to playing Gray more often.
However, he pledged more game time for Gray between now and the end of the season.
“With all of these things, people just look at them as a moment of time,” Postecoglou told football.london.
“If you had have said at the start of the year that Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Mikey Moore would have played the amount of time they have as teenagers, I wouldn’t have said that that’s impossible.
