Thorup Championship view ahead of Watford
Johannes Hoff Thorup wants Norwich City to pick up the pace ahead of Watford’s Championship visit.
The Dane is now on the look out for a new first team coach and goalkeeper coach, following the departures of Narcis Pelach and Paul Clements respectively to Stoke.
City are unlikely to make any external appointments prior to the Hornets’ weekend duel, which is Thorup’s prime focus after failing to build on a first league win against Coventry last time out at Swansea.
Norwich have picked up five points from his first five Championship games in charge.
“I would have expected to have more points. I think if we look at the outcome in maybe one and a half to two of those games, I think we should have had more, based on the chances created, based on how the games went,” he said.
“So that’s one thing. Then I think, offensively, we can still improve. We have to be able to create more and bigger chances, based on the situations that we actually get ourselves into.
“That was always a question after the Coventry game, when we had many good situations but did not get on the end of the crosses. We had many of these situations again at Swansea, both in transition and more settled play, and it is an area we need to improve.
“There are still some steps for us to take, because we have to be more effective in the final third of the pitch. That is why I was disappointed because I think we can show more. We’re still a little bit in between and I told the boys in the changing room (at Swansea) we have higher expectations.”
