How is ex-Norwich City star Jon Rowe getting on at Marseille?

Jonathan Rowe’s saga was something that Norwich City didn’t need during what was an eventful summer.

Following their play-off semi-final defeat against Leeds United last year, it always looked as though the Canaries were going to face a difficult task in their quest to retain some of their most important players.

It was no surprise when Gabriel Sara moved on, having registered an outrageous number of goals and assists from midfield, with the Brazilian making the move to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Adam Idah also moved on – and that was a bit of a blow considering how impressive the Irishman was on loan during the second half of the 2023/24 campaign – scoring nine goals in 19 appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

With Sara leaving, having Idah in the squad would have been useful, but he made a permanent move to link up with the Scottish Premiership side.

Abu Kamara, another attacking player, made the move to Hull City just before the deadline, with Rowe leaving before then.

Rowe’s departure was and still is a big blow, considering how influential he was in the final third last season.

At 21 too, the Englishman would have only got better with more game time under his belt and he could have been crucial to another potential promotion push.

He turned up in some big games too, even though he was unable to make a real impact in the play-offs.

His brace away at arch-rivals Ipswich Town was a very memorable occasion for him – and it’s just a shame for him that his spell at Carrow Road ended in the way it did.

Pulling out of the squad on the day of the Canaries’ opening day of the season against Oxford United and failing to appear for the club after that, he would have wanted to end his time in Norfolk on a better note.
