Sissoko helped Cleverley when he took charge of Watford.

Unbeknown to most, only days after last season had ended, Tom Cleverley was feeling confident that he would bring Moussa Sissoko back to Watford.

Watford FC: Gino Pozzo’s net worth compared to the richest Premier League owners.

It is now around a decade since Gino Pozzo took on his sole ownership of Watford FC.

Prior to that, he and his father, Giampaolo Pozzo, had completed a takeover of the Hornets from Lawrence Bassini back in the summer of 2012.

Since 2014 though, it is Gino who has stepped in as the single owner of the club, with Giampaolo instead focusing on the running of Italian side Udinese.

Under the younger Pozzo, who is heavily involved in daily business at Watford, the club have been promoted twice to the Premier League, but also been relegated on two occasions.

Last season saw them end the campaign 15th in the Championship table, their lowest finish under Pozzo’s ownership.

As a result, it was perhaps no surprise to see a busy summer at Vicarage Road, with 12 new first-team signings, arguably showing Pozzo’s backing for the club.

The Pozzo’s original family business was the toolmaker, Freud, which Giampaolo Pozzo sold to German company Bosch in 2008.

Gino Pozzo meanwhile, has been involved in football throughout his career, having built a network focused on the talent scouting and development of young promising players.

That is something he has looked to exploit in the transfer market when working on recruitment in his role with Watford.

The start to this campaign has been a stronger one for the Hornets, who currently sit fifth in the Championship table.

Under Tom Cleverley, who took charge late last season, they have taken ten points from five league games so far.
