Robert Saleh Places Confidence in Jets Rookie.
The New York Jets dominated the New England Patriots on Thursday night, 24-3, in their first divisional matchup of the season. While the team had plenty to celebrate, especially on offense, they didn’t leave the game unscathed. Starting right tackle Morgan Moses left the game late in the third quarter with a knee injury that was later diagnosed as an MCL sprain. Moses is not expected to miss the remainder of the season, and he was not placed on injured reserve, but he is expected to miss the next two-to-four weeks. With Moses missing time, first-round pick Olu Fashanu is
expected to step in and start at right tackle for the Jets. Coach Robert Saleh was optimistic about Fashanu getting the opportunity. “It is kind of luxury that when Moses got hurt, you are sending out a first-round pick,” Saleh said. “He’s been getting a lot of reps in practice, obviously, with the plans that we have for those two tackles, and he is one of those guys we are looking forward to getting better each week.” The Jets selected Fashanu with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Penn State. Looking ahead, the Jets will host the Denver Broncos in Week 4 on Sept. 29.
