Cole Palmer steals the show in Chelsea’s win against Brighton
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea go five games unbeaten after handing the Seagulls their first league defeat of the season.

Chelsea carried on their winning streak in the league after a crazy back and forth game against Brighton resulted in a 4-2 win for the Blues.

Cole Palmer dominated the first half as he scored all four of Chelsea’s goals, which included his third league hat trick since signing for the Blues last season.

Brighton opened the scoring after only seven minutes following a Robert Sanchez error, but struggled to deal with fast breaks in behind as they gave away several goal scoring chances, and were undone by Palmer as Chelsea wrapped the game up before half-time.

Here is what head coach Enzo Maresca had to say on the win:

Fans were treated to an absolutely heart-racing first half, as both teams played attacking football and capitalised on defensive errors.

It was the Blues who were the more clinical, and there was potential for even more goals with the number of chances created. Noni Madueke got into some good positions, but lacked an end product, and striker Nicolas Jackson also looked frustrated to not get on the scoresheet.

When asked about the overall performance, Maresca said: “I was happy before the start and it’s always nice to share that sort of moment with our fans.

“After two wins in a row away, it is always difficult to keep that momentum. It is important to continue that moment. It was a good moment.”

Brighton tended to stick with their high line, which gave Chelsea their freedom in attack, but Maresca did draw attention to the Seagulls’ off the ball shape as they tried to get back into the game:
