Wrexham have 20 points from opening 10 League One games

PRIZES aren’t given out after 10 games but Wrexham deserve credit for the way they have handled playing at a higher level.

Phil Parkinson’s men bounced back from just a second defeat of the League One season at Stevenage by beating Northampton Town 4-1 at The Racecourse on Saturday.

It was another impressive home performance with the Reds not letting an equaliser conceded against the run of play affect them.

Wrexham played good football from the start and it was another thoroughly deserved win which continued the excellent start to the season.

The back-to-back promotion winners went into the campaign with momentum but the higher you go, the tougher it gets and the Reds have taken the step-up in their stride.

There have been set-backs along the way but there is no divine right to win every game. Only taking one point from two away games heading into the Northampton clash was hardly the end of the world and they remained among the pacesetters.

A fifth home victory in a row against the Cobblers kept Wrexham in second place and they are now only two points behind leaders Birmingham City who suffered a first defeat of the season at Charlton – proof that even title favourites can’t win them all!

With 20 points from the opening 10 matches, it is a mightily impressive haul and Parkinson, his staff and players deserve all the praise they get.

Not all teams adjust to going up a level and League One is a hugely competitive division with a lot of big teams who are equally as ambitious as the Reds.
