It’s obvious who Leicester City should appoint if Steve Cooper leaves this month.

Leicester City have made a pretty poor start to life back in the Premier League.

Steve Cooper has completely reshaped the style of play at Leicester after taking over from Enzo Maresca and it’s fair to say, he hasn’t really won over the supporters.

The Foxes have won one of their opening seven Premier League games and have very much played with the handbrake on at times.

Carrick has established himself as one of the best managers in the Championship since taking the reigns in November 2022.

His Boro team aren’t as talented as some of the other promotion challengers but they still manage to compete at the top end of the table playing a really exciting brand of football.

Plus, Carrick has shown a willingness to give youth a chance and has already earned a reputation for developing them into key players.

Cooper’s future at Leicester must be decided one way or another before the Janaury transfer window.

If there is a new manager in post, he needs to be fully backed this winter and contrastingly, so should Cooper if he remains put.

Jon Rudkin and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha will have taken many learnings from the 2022/23 season – which saw Brendan Rodgers given most of the season before Dean Smith ultimately took City down to the Championship.

Cooper will likely be given much less time to turn things around, so they should already have an idea of his successor in the event he leaves.
