Norwich City have simply struck gold with star who won 100% of his tackles v Hull City.

Norwich City are one of the most in-form Championship sides heading into the international break, with three wins in their last four games.

Most impressively, the Canaries hammered Hull City 4-0 on Saturday, courtesy of first-half strikes from Marcelino Nunez and Joshua Sargent, as well as second-half efforts from Kaide Gordon and Borja Sainz.

Heading into their meeting with the Tigers, the Canaries will have been most concerned by the threat of Hull wideman Liam Millar, who showed his class in the Championship during a loan spell with Preston last campaign, and went up against full-back Kellen Fisher on Saturday.

Millar had been in strong form prior to Saturday too, having scored a goal against QPR last Tuesday, while he also created an assist during the Tigers’ 3-1 win over Stoke City in late September.

But Fisher stood firm and extinguished the threat of the Canada international, during an afternoon which turned out to be an outstanding day at the office for the 20-year-old.

According to FotMob, the Canaries starlet won 100% of the tackles he attempted on Saturday, as well as boasting a 100% success rate in both ground duels and aerial duels.

On the other hand, Millar had a tricky afternoon at Carrow Road, largely thanks to Fisher’s performance, and failed to produce a successful dribble, while also attempting just two shots, as per FotMob, before being replaced in the 72nd minute.

By successfully standing his ground against Millar, Fisher has proven that he has the ability to keep some of the most dangerous wingers in the Championship quiet.

The Canaries signed the England Under-20 international from Bromley, then of the National League, in 2023 and his addition now looks like a major transfer coup due to the fact he is now performing so well in the second tier.

Canaries boss is proving David Wagner wrong with Fisher selection

Former Norwich manager David Wagner handed the young right-back his Championship debut, but he went on to make just nine second tier outings last campaign, and 14 appearances across all competitions.

But new Canaries boss Johannes Hoff Thorup has placed more trust in Fisher than that of his predecessor, already handing him five Championship appearances as well as selecting the youngster in the EFL Cup on two occasions.

And by putting his faith in Fisher on a regular basis, Hoff Thorup has clearly managed to get the best out of the 20-year-old based on his exploits against the Tigers, while Canaries fans will hope for more of the same as the season continues.

Last campaign, Wagner guided the Carrow Road outfit to the play-offs, where they suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Leeds United back in May.

Hoff Thorup’s aim, therefore, is to steer the Canaries to a top-six spot for the second consecutive season, while he will hope for a better outcome this time around, should his club reach the play-offs once more.

Meanwhile, Fisher’s performances of late suggest that he is bound to have a key role to play as the Norfolk outfit strive to make a promotion bid.

Norwich look to have struck gold with their non-league import who is thriving under their new boss.
