Shane Steichen Doesn’t Hesitate When Picking Between Anthony Richardson, Joe Flacco.
Anthony Richardson hasn’t taken the field for the Indianapolis Colts since he suffered an oblique injury early in the team’s Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Richardson was replaced by 39-year-old veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who’s completed 49 of his 70 pass attempts for 527 yards and five touchdowns in his near two games of action as the Colts’ QB. Flacco led the Colts to victory over the Steelers in Week 4, but came up just short against the previously-winless Jacksonville Jaguars as the Indianapolis starter in Week 5. The Colts are hopeful that Richardson will be medically cleared for Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. If Richardson is healthy, head coach Shane Steichen made it very clear that he’ll reclaim the starting job.
“He is our starting quarterback,” Steichen said on Monday.
“We are trying to win football games,” he continued. “That’s the bottom line. We are trying to win football games. Obviously, when Anthony is out there, he makes a lot of big plays for us. That’s where it’s at.” The 2-3 Colts will kickoff against the Titans at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
