For Norwich, the plan to improve will centre around recruitment, and the buying low and selling high model that clubs like Brentford and Brighton have perfected in the past decade.
Emi Buendia deal was brilliant business by Norwich City
To their credit, it’s an approach that has worked for Norwich in the past as well, and there’s no doubt the standout deal by the club in recent memory involved Emi Buendia.
The attacking midfielder was signed by the Canaries in 2018 from Getafe, in a transfer reportedly worth around £1.6m.
At the time, Buendia was with Getafe, who were a La Liga club, but he had been out on loan in the second tier with Cultural Leonesa, so it’s fair to say that he wasn’t the sort of signing that brought plenty of headlines.
However, it became apparent very quickly that Norwich had made a shrewd addition, as Buendia immediately established himself as a key player for Daniel Farke’s side, taking over from James Maddison after his move to Leicester City.
