Watford icon backs Tottenham despite heavy loss to Brighton

Tottneham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been on the receiving end of ample criticism owing to the slow start that the Lilywhites have incurred in the ongoing 2024/25 campaign, and Watford icon Troy Deeney has come to defend the Greek-born head coach amid the criticisms coming his way following Spurs latest loss against Brighton.

The North Londoners had turned things around with their five-game unbeaten run as the tings looked on the upside; however, all the grind came crushing down with the humiliating defeat against the Seagulls just before the international break. Spurs were leading the game 2-0 going into halftime, but the visitors looked all over the place at American Express Stadium as Brighton scored three in about twenty minutes to conclude the game with a 3-2 win.

Ange has been on the receiving end of much criticism after the game, but Deeney feels that the manager wasn’t at much fault for the outcome of the fixture. He expressed his sorrow for the Lilywhites boss and criticised the Spurs defence for conceding three times in quick succession.
